Placements24 is seeking an Employment Law Specialist to provide expert legal advice and support on all aspects of SA employment law from Upington. You will advise management, draft contracts and policies, and manage disciplinary processes to ensure fair and compliant practices across the workforce.

The role requires Admitted Attorney with Labour Law specialization, at least 7 years of experience, and strong knowledge of BCEA, LRA, EEA, and SDA.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court with Labour Law specialization.
• 7+ years of experience in employment/labour law.
• Strong knowledge of SA labour legislation and case law.
• Experience advising on complex employee relations matters.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Employment Law Specialist to provide expert legal advice and support on all aspects of employment law for their organization, operating from Upington . This role requires a thorough understanding of South African labour legislation, including the BCEA, LRA, EEA, and SDA. You will be responsible for advising management on employment-related matters, drafting employment contracts, policies, and procedures, managing disciplinary processes, and representing the company in labour disputes, ensuring fair and compliant employment practices across the workforce and fostering a positive employee relations environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to management on all employment law matters, including recruitment, termination, and employee relations.
• Draft, review, and update employment contracts, HR policies, and procedures.
• Manage and advise on disciplinary hearings, grievance procedures, and CCMA/Bargaining Council disputes.
• Ensure compliance with all South African labour laws and regulations.
• Conduct legal research on employment law developments and provide proactive guidance.
• Assist with the legal aspects of restructuring and retrenchment processes.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a specialization in Labour Law.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience practicing employment or labour law.
• In-depth knowledge of South African labour legislation and case law.
• Proven experience in advising on and managing complex employee relations matters.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a pragmatic approach.
