Placements24 is seeking an Email Marketing Specialist for our Pietermaritzburg office. You will plan, execute, and optimize campaigns to nurture leads, drive sales, and build customer loyalty.

Expect end-to-end ownership of strategy, content, segmentation, automation, and performance analysis. The role requires a data-driven mindset, strong copywriting, and proficiency with major platforms such as Mailchimp, HubSpot or Klaviyo.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of hands-on email marketing experience.
• Proficiency with major email platforms (Mailchimp, HubSpot, Klaviyo or Constant Contact).

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an strategic email marketing calendar aligned with overall marketing objectives.
• Design, write, and code engaging email campaigns, including newsletters, promos, and automated workflows.
• Segment email lists based on behavior and demographics to personalize communications.
• Conduct A/B testing on subject lines, content, CTAs, and send times to optimize performance.
• Monitor and analyze campaign performance, delivering reports and insights.
• Ensure compliance with GDPR/POPIA and other regulations.
• Manage and maintain the email marketing platform (Mailchimp, HubSpot, Klaviyo, etc.).
• Collaborate with creative to keep designs on-brand and compelling.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent direct-to-consumer brand, is looking for a meticulous and creative Email Marketing Specialist to join their marketing team. This on-site role in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal will be responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing email marketing campaigns to nurture leads, drive sales, and enhance customer loyalty. You will manage all aspects of email marketing, from campaign strategy and content creation to list segmentation, A/B testing, and performance analysis. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of email marketing platforms, a passion for data-driven optimization, and a keen eye for engaging content. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a strategic email marketing calendar aligned with overall marketing objectives.
• Design, write, and code engaging email campaigns, including newsletters, promotional emails, and automated workflows (e.g., welcome series, abandoned cart).
• Segment email lists based on customer behavior, demographics, and purchase history to personalize communications.
• Conduct A/B testing on subject lines, content, CTAs, and send times to optimize open rates, click-through rates, and conversion rates.
• Monitor and analyze email campaign performance, providing detailed reports and actionable insights.
• Ensure compliance with email marketing regulations (e.g., GDPR, POPIA).
• Manage and maintain the email marketing platform (e.g., Mailchimp, HubSpot, Klaviyo).
• Collaborate with the creative team to ensure email designs are visually appealing and on-brand.
• Stay updated on email marketing best practices, trends, and emerging technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
• 2-4 years of experience specifically in email marketing.
• Proficiency with at least one major email marketing platform (e.g., Mailchimp, HubSpot, Klaviyo, Constant Contact).
• Strong understanding of email marketing metrics and analytics.
• Excellent copywriting and editing skills, with a focus on persuasive and engaging content.
• Experience with A/B testing and data analysis to optimize campaigns.
• Basic HTML/CSS knowledge for email template customization is a plus.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an office environment.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal .
