Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Design Technician in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, to join a reputable power infrastructure consultancy. You will design and document electrical networks, substations, and associated infrastructure, working with Electrical Engineers to produce detailed drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

• 3 years of electrical design experience, preferably in power distribution or utilities.
• Proficient in AutoCAD or comparable CAD software for electrical design.
• Familiar with South African electrical standards (SANS) and utilities practices.
• Detail-oriented with accuracy in technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical design drawings for power distribution, single-line diagrams, schematics, and layouts.
• Prepare specifications for transformers, switchgear, cables, and protective devices.
• Perform basic electrical calculations under supervision of senior engineers.
• Coordinate with disciplines to ensure design consistency and project alignment.
• Maintain and update design documentation for accuracy.
• Assist in site surveys and data gathering; verify existing conditions.
• Support tender prep and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Assist construction phase with technical queries and shop drawing reviews.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations and client specs.
