Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Design Technician to support our client in Paarl, Western Cape. You will translate design concepts into buildable electrical systems, creating detailed drawings, schematics, and BOQs while ensuring compliance with SANS and building codes.

The role requires a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering and at least 3 years of experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD software. A hybrid work model is available, balancing office and remote work.

Qualifications

• Requires National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience as an Electrical Design Technician or Drafter.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and/or other CAD software.
• Solid understanding of electrical principles, power distribution, lighting design, and low-voltage systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical systems for commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
• Produce detailed drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams using CAD software.
• Prepare BOQs and material specifications.
• Conduct site visits to verify installations and gather information.
• Ensure designs comply with national electrical standards (SANS) and building codes.
• Support engineers in planning, coordination, and problem solving.
• Perform load calculations, cable sizing, and lighting calculations.
• Maintain project documentation and drawing revisions.
• Assist with tender documentation and submittals.
• Collaborate with other design disciplines.
