Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for our client in Vereeniging to lead the design of electrical power infrastructure, including substations and distribution networks. You will produce CAD drawings, perform power system analyses, and collaborate with civil and mechanical teams to ensure integrated, compliant designs.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and at least five years’ experience with AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, ETAP and DIgSILENT, along

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant design experience in power infrastructure.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs for power infrastructure including HV and MV systems.
• Prepare detailed drawings, schematics and specifications using CAD software.
• Perform power system analysis (load flow, fault studies, protection coordination).
• Select equipment (transformers, switchgear, breakers, relays) and specify requirements.
• Coordinate with civil, mechanical and other disciplines for integrated design.
• Conduct site inspections and assess construction/commissioning activities.
• Ensure compliance with SA and international standards.
• Assist tendering with technical specifications; troubleshoot design issues.
