About the Role

Our client, a prominent international freight forwarder and logistics provider, is seeking a meticulous and knowledgeable Customs and Freight Compliance Specialist to join their team, supporting operations in Soweto, Gauteng . This role is vital for ensuring that all international and domestic shipments adhere to complex customs regulations, trade laws, and internal compliance policies. The Specialist will be responsible for managing customs declarations, tariff classifications, duty calculations, and staying abreast of all regulatory changes impacting the movement of goods. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of customs procedures, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to navigate the intricacies of global trade compliance. You will play a crucial role in facilitating seamless international trade for our clients and mitigating compliance risks.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and process all customs declarations and documentation accurately and efficiently for imports and exports.
• Determine correct tariff classifications (HS codes) for a wide range of goods to ensure accurate duty and tax assessments.
• Calculate duties, taxes, and fees payable on shipments and ensure timely payment.
• Stay informed about and ensure compliance with all relevant customs regulations, trade agreements, and international shipping laws.
• Liaise with customs authorities, border agencies, and other governmental bodies as required.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of all customs-related documentation and transactions.
