Job summary

Placements24 seeks a dedicated HR Specialist focusing on Compensation and Benefits to join our Pietermaritzburg team. You will design, implement, and administer compensation and benefits programs aligned with strategic goals and market benchmarks.

You will conduct salary benchmarking, develop job grading structures, and ensure compliance with SA labor laws. The role requires analytical rigor, strong Excel skills, and collaboration with the HR team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of HR experience with a focus on compensation and benefits.
• Experience in salary benchmarking, job evaluation, and benefits administration.
• Strong understanding of South African labor laws related to compensation and benefits.
• Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced level) and HRIS systems.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills; attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Administer and manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance and retirement funds.
• Conduct market research and salary benchmarking to ensure competitive compensation structures.
• Develop and maintain job grading and salary structures.
• Process payroll changes, including new hires, terminations, and salary adjustments; ensure accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with BCEA, EEA and related legislation.
• Communicate benefit and compensation information effectively to employees and management.
• Analyze compensation data to identify trends, inequities, and opportunities for improvement in Pietermaritzburg.
• Manage vendor relationships for benefits providers.
• Assist in developing and implementing compensation and benefits policies and procedures.
• Support HR projects and reporting requirements.
