Placements24 is recruiting a Chief Surveyor for a mine site near Kimberley in South Africa. You will lead survey operations, map infrastructure, and ensure boundary compliance while managing a team of surveyors and technicians.

The ideal candidate has a Professional Land Surveyor qualification, at least 6 years in mine surveying with 2 in supervision, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Surpac. Strong geodetic knowledge and data integrity are essential.

Responsibilities

You will manage a team of surveyors, oversee the use of advanced surveying equipment and software, and ensure the integrity of all spatial data. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mine surveying and a commitment to precision and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all mine surveying activities, including topographic surveys, boundary surveys, and volumetric calculations.
• Establish and maintain control networks for surface and underground operations.
• Prepare and interpret survey plans, drawings, and reports for mine planning and operations.
• Operate and maintain advanced surveying instruments (e.g., total stations, GPS, laser scanners).
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all survey data, integrating it with mine planning software.
• Supervise and mentor junior surveyors and survey technicians.

Requirements
