Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Chief Surveyor to lead the surveying and spatial data management team in Pretoria. This hybrid role combines on-site fieldwork with office-based data analysis, reporting, and project coordination for mining operations.

You will establish control networks, monitor deformation, and provide essential survey data for mine planning and design while mentoring survey technicians and ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geomatics or related field.
• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or equivalent registration where applicable.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in mine surveying, with supervisory exposure.

Responsibilities

• Oversee mine surveying activities on surface and underground.
• Establish and maintain primary control networks using geodetic techniques.
• Conduct surveys for planning, excavation monitoring, and volumetrics.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Surveyor to lead their surveying and spatial data management team based in Pretoria . This hybrid role involves a combination of on-site fieldwork and office-based data analysis and reporting. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all spatial data collected for mining operations, from initial exploration to mine closure. Your expertise will be vital in establishing control networks, monitoring mine deformation, and providing essential survey data for mine planning and design. The successful candidate will uphold the highest standards of surveying practice, manage a team of survey technicians, and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies. This is a key position in ensuring the precision and safety of our client's mining activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all mine surveying activities, including surface and underground operations.
• Establish and maintain primary control networks using advanced geodetic survey techniques.
• Conduct regular surveys for mine planning, excavation monitoring, and volumetric calculations.
• Operate and maintain surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS receivers, and laser scanners.

Requirements
