Placements24 seeks a Chief Mine Surveyor to lead and oversee all surveying activities near Durban. You will ensure accuracy of underground and surface surveys, maintain mine plans, and provide spatial data for planning and resource management.

You will lead a team of surveyors, implement advanced surveying technologies, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, demonstrating strong leadership and meticulous attention to detail throughout mining operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of mine survey experience, including 3 years in supervision.
• Expertise with surface and underground surveying methods.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Surpac and Deswik.
• Strong regulatory and safety compliance understanding.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute all surface and underground survey operations, including setting out, cross-sections, and volumetric calculations.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date mine plans reflecting current mine state.
• Implement and manage modern surveying equipment such as GPS, total stations, and laser scanners.
• Train, mentor, and supervise a team of mine surveyors, ensuring high standards of work quality and safety.
• Liaise with mine management, engineers, and geologists to provide critical spatial information for planning and decision-making.
• Ensure surveying work complies with legal requirements and industry best practices in South Africa.
