Placements24 is seeking a Chief Surveyor to oversee all surveying operations at a mining site near Centurion. Lead a team of surveyors, implement advanced technologies, and ensure regulatory compliance and data integrity from exploration to closure.

You will manage positional control for mining activities, conduct geotechnical assessments, and support environmental monitoring, ensuring safety and efficiency. The role is hands-on leadership requiring meticulous attention to quality.

Qualifications

• Requires National Diploma or Bachelor's in Surveying/Geomatics.
• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or equivalent registration.
• Minimum 7 years in mine surveying with ≥3 years in supervision.
• Proficient with surveying software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, TBC).
• Experience with drones and modern surveying technologies.

Responsibilities

• Direct all mine surveying activities including boundary, topographical, and control surveys.
• Ensure survey data accuracy for mine planning, design, and construction.
• Operate and maintain GPS, total stations, and laser scanners.
• Process survey data to create maps and models; develop QC procedures.
• Supervise and mentor survey technicians and junior surveyors.

About the Role
