Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Banqueting Chef de Partie in Bloemfontein to lead a kitchen station during large-scale banquets and events. Under the guidance of the Sous and Executive Chefs, you will ensure high-quality prep, presentation, and consistency, while mentoring junior staff and maintaining rigorous hygiene standards.

The role requires strong culinary skills, the ability to work under pressure, and flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years as Chef de Partie or Commis Chef in catering/hotel
• Formal culinary qualification or apprenticeship desirable
• Proficiency in diverse cooking techniques and food safety principles
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks during peak service
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Physical stamina to stand long hours and lift moderate weights
• Detail-oriented in food prep and presentation
• Flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook dishes for banqueting events per recipes and standards
• Manage a kitchen section (e.g., sauces, grill, pastry) ensuring smooth operation
• Maintain hygiene and sanitation within your section and overall kitchen
• Control portions and minimize waste for cost control
• Mentor and train junior kitchen staff
• Ensure correct storage, rotation and usage of ingredients
• Collaborate with kitchen and service staff
• Contribute to menu planning and development
• Keep workstation and equipment clean and organized
• Uphold the company’s culinary reputation
