Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Banquet Chef de Partie for a prominent Soweto hotel in Gauteng. You will manage a station, supervise junior staff, and ensure high standards of food quality and hygiene for banquets and events.

The role requires at least 3 years in a similar high-volume kitchen, a formal culinary qualification preferred, and a strong foundation in a range of cooking techniques with HACCP knowledge. Shifts include evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years as Chef de Partie or similar in a high-volume kitchen.
• Formal culinary qualification preferred.
• Proficient in various cooking techniques and cuisines.
• Knowledge of food safety and HACCP principles.
• Able to work with junior kitchen staff and lead a section.
• Well organized with time management and stamina for fast-paced shifts.
• Creative with a passion for food quality and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook banquet/menu items per recipes and standards.
• Manage assigned station, keep it clean, organized and stocked.
• Supervise Commis Chefs and kitchen hands in your section.
• Ensure safe food handling and hygiene compliance.
• Assist with menu planning and contribute ideas for banquets.
• Control costs by minimizing waste and managing stock.
• Collaborate with Executive Chef and Sous Chef on tasks.
• Maintain equipment and assist with inventory management.
• Take part in stock takes and ensure consistent dish quality.
