Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Banquet Chef de Partie for a leading event catering team in Vereeniging, Gauteng. You will prepare components for banquets and events, work closely with the Sous and Head Chefs, and ensure quality, hygiene, and timely service during high-volume events.

The role requires at least 3 years of relevant kitchen experience, strong organizational and teamwork skills, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. This is a hands-on position in a fast-paced kitchen.

Qualifications

• Must have 3+ years in a busy kitchen as Chef de Partie or Commis Chef, with banquet or catering experience preferred.
• Proficient in a range of cooking techniques and standard methods of food preparation.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards is essential.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and teamwork skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present specific menu items and components for banquets and catering events as assigned.
• Ensure all dishes are prepared consistently according to established recipes and quality standards.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in your section.
• Manage inventory for your station, including stock rotation and ingredient availability.
• Assist in training and supervising commis chefs and kitchen assistants within your section.
• Collaborate with kitchen team to ensure smooth service flow.
• Adhere to all company policies, including health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.
• Contribute to menu development ideas and recipe testing as required.
• Minimize waste through efficient preparation and proper use of ingredients.
• Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the Sous/Head Chef.
• Ensure timely preparation of all food items for scheduled events in Vereeniging.
