Placements24 in Richards Bay is seeking an Aquatics Centre Manager to lead the operations of a state‑of‑the‑art facility, with a strong focus on water safety, swimming development, and community access to aquatic activities.

You will oversee staff, programs, maintenance and budgets, ensuring a safe, enjoyable and profitable environment for all users while maintaining compliance with health and lifeguard regulations and building partnerships with community groups.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Aquatics Centre Manager to lead the operations of their state-of-the-art aquatic facility in Richards Bay. This position requires a strong leader passionate about water safety, swimming development, and community access to aquatic activities. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the centre, including staff, programs, maintenance, and budget, ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and profitable environment for all users. This role is critical to providing essential water-based recreational and developmental opportunities within the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the overall management and operational efficiency of the aquatic centre , including pools, change rooms, and associated facilities.
• Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive schedule of aquatic programs, including swimming lessons, aqua fitness, and competitive events.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and lifeguard regulations, maintaining a safe environment for all patrons.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise lifeguards, instructors, and other aquatic centre staff.
• Manage the centre's budget, including revenue generation, expense control, and financial reporting.
• Maintain positive relationships with patrons, community groups, and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Previous experience in managing an aquatic facility or a similar recreational facility.
• Current pool lifeguard and First Aid certifications are essential.
• Strong knowledge of aquatic programming, water safety protocols, and facility maintenance.
• Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with budget management and financial planning.
