Job summary

Freelance Latin America seeks an experienced Medical Billing & Revenue Cycle Specialist to support a U.S.-based healthcare services organization, handling claims submission, posting, denials, appeals, and patient billing support. This full-time, fully remote role includes two weeks of training.

Ideal candidates have strong U.S. medical billing experience, proficiency with athenahealth, and excellent communication with U.S. patients and practice teams. Flexibility to work ET hours is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on U.S. medical billing and Revenue Cycle Management experience.
• Direct experience with athenahealth (Athena) EHR/PM.
• Strong English communication with U.S. patients and practice teams.
• Reliable remote workspace and internet connectivity.
• Willingness to work full-time with E.T. schedule.

Responsibilities

• Review and submit claims in Athena, ensuring accuracy before submission.
• Verify coding, modifiers, and payer requirements prior to submission.
• Monitor clearinghouse rejections and resubmit affected claims.
• Track claim status through the full billing cycle.
• Post insurance and patient payments from ERA/EOB documentation.
