A government organization in South Carolina seeks a Maintenance Worker to assist in the maintenance and repair of roads and bridges. You will operate various vehicles and equipment while performing tasks such as traffic control, debris removal, and equipment inspections. A valid driver's license and a Class A CDL within six months are required. This position may involve outdoor work in various weather conditions.
Under direct supervision, assists in the performance of a wide variety of maintenance activities in the construction, repair, and preservation of roads and bridges on the state highway system. May operate standard motorized equipment used in the construction and maintenance of highways or the movement of materials and supplies on a County Maintenance Special Project/Drainage/Vegetation Crew. Operates 5-yard standard dump truck and flatbed truck for hauling materials such as asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe, construction materials, and debris. Operates small equipment such as brush chipper, pneumatic (less than or equal to 4 tons) rollers, broom sweepers, trailer mounted pipe washers, and tractor with mower (less than or equal to 10’ wide) in conjunction with highway and bridge maintenance operations, and standard dump truck with snowplow attachment and sand spreader or brine sprayer applicator for removal of snow and ice from highways and bridges.
