Job summary

City of Springfield, Missouri is seeking a Land Use Inspector to perform field inspections and investigations to enforce nuisance and zoning ordinances, ensuring safe environments for the public. The role supports community development through code enforcement and collaborative problem solving.

The position requires inspection experience, strong customer service, and the ability to work with residents, businesses, and other departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.
• One year of field code enforcement or a related area.
• An Associate's Degree in above or related discipline.
• Three years experience in code enforcement or related area; substitution possible year-for-year.

Responsibilities

• Investigate complaints regarding the adopted Nuisance and Zoning ordinances.
• Educate, advise, and interpret applicable laws, codes, and ordinances as they relate to nuisance and zoning issues.
• Perform inspections on residential and commercial lots related to nuisance and zoning ordinances.
• Enforce legal orders and coordinate abatements as needed regarding compliance with nuisance and zoning codes.
• Represent Building Development Services in court and other hearings related to inspections.
