Job summary

City of Albuquerque seeks a Code Enforcement Specialist to conduct residential and commercial inspections, enforce zoning codes, and resolve non-compliance with various city departments. Typical duties include coordinating with the Legal, Police, Fire and Environmental Health Departments, preparing court materials, and documenting cases for condemnation when needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and five years of related experience.
• Experience in property or code enforcement, building construction, construction management, or zoning enforcement.
• Housing inspection, management and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and inspect reported or observed violations of zoning codes and related ordinances.
• Enforce city land-use requirements and issue notifications regarding violations.
• Review plans for compliance with building codes and zoning standards.
• Prepare court materials and may testify in court on code violations.
• Maintain detailed records and provide information to owners, developers and contractors.
