Doña Ana County seeks a qualified Building Inspector to perform comprehensive inspections of industrial, commercial and residential structures during construction and remodeling. The role ensures compliance with county and state codes, issues permits and citations, and maintains accurate inspection records.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain NM CID/ICC certifications within the required timeframes, with bilingual English/Spanish

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Three years foreman experience or equivalent substitutions to meet inspector requirements.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to obtain building inspector certifications within specified time.

Responsabilités

• Inspect industrial, commercial, and residential buildings at various construction stages.
• Analyze changes in use or occupancy and propose compliant alternatives.
• Determine damage extent, safety factors, and permits needed for repairs.
• Conduct inspections to ensure code and ordinance compliance.
• Prepare reports, issue permits and citations, maintain records.
• Coordinate and schedule inspection requests for permits.
• Provide quality customer service.
• Site checks for compliance with skirting and setback requirements for mobile/manufactured homes.
