Job summary

The Link Minnesota seeks a Youth Specialist to oversee safety and support for youth at the Safe Harbor Shelter and Housing Program in the Southwest Suburbs. You will supervise youth, run activities grounded in positive youth development, and coordinate holistic case management in collaboration with staff.

You will engage diverse youth with trauma-informed approaches, support transitions with police/child welfare, and maintain clear records while ensuring a warm, inclusive environment 24/7.

Qualifications

• Four years of working with high-risk and vulnerable youth or an AA or BA degree in a related field.
• Experience providing holistic supportive services to young people.
• Training in youth development, harm reduction, and/or trauma-informed care.
• Knowledge of minor sex trafficking and gender-based violence.
• Proven experience providing 1:1 and group supports in shelter or youth setting.
• Must be able to drive and be insured under The Link vehicle policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide high level supervision and safety for youth and facility.
• Develop and facilitate social, educational, and recreational activities.
• Coordinate intake and case management support for youth.
• Maintain communication with Program Manager and team.
• Deliver crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.
• Create a welcoming, culturally competent environment 24-7.
• Ensure compliance with shelter policies and safety protocols.
