Job summary

The Link’s Emergency Shelter for minors, Dignity House, seeks a Youth Specialist to provide 24-7 safety, supervision and supportive services in Crystal, MN. This full-time role covers overnight shifts, 40 hours per week, with 7 days on and 7 days off.

Responsibilities include crisis response, intakes, enforcing policies, case coordination, and building nurturing relationships with youth, while maintaining professional boundaries and proper documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience providing comprehensive and holistic supportive services to young people.
• Training in youth development, harm reduction, and/or trauma informed care.
• Knowledge of issues related to minor sex trafficking and gender-based violence, comprehensive programming, child welfare, and court systems.
• Proven experience providing 1:1 and group supports and/or programming within a shelter or other youth setting.
• Current driver’s license, reliable vehicle and ability to pass a criminal and driving background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-7 safety, supervision, and security of youth and building at the Emergency Shelter.
• respond to crisis calls and conduct intakes.
• Enforce shelter policies consistently and fairly.
• Interact with police and child welfare for youth transitions.
• Develop nurturing relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Complete intake with youth entering shelter.
• Assist with case management and coordination of services.
• Maintain daily communication with Program Manager and team.
• Overnight shelter cleaning and record-keeping.
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.
