Job summary

Ain Dah Yung Center (ADYC) in Saint Paul, MN, seeks a dedicated Youth Care Worker to assist with shelter operations and provide direct care for youth aged 5–17. Responsibilities include supervising residents, managing behaviors, preparing meals, and supporting daily activities per weekly schedule.

Requirements include an AA degree in human services and at least 3 years’ youth work experience; a valid driver’s license and DHS background check are required.

Qualifications

• AA degree in human services, child development, elementary/secondary education or related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with youth who exhibit varying degrees of difficult behavior in residential/therapeutic settings.
• Knowledge of Native American Indian culture, values, and family systems.
• Must have the ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand/walk stairs repeatedly.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and pass MN DHS background study.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily staff supervision and program coordination for the Emergency Shelter.
• Directly supervise shelter residents and ensure health and safety.
• Provide direct care, behavior management, and supervision of shelter residents.
• Prepare healthy meals and snacks for shelter residents.
• Maintain a sanitary environment and kitchen duties.
• Facilitate daily activities and groups per weekly schedule.
• Provide case management support including transportation and intake/discharges.
• Attend weekly case management meetings.
• Supervise parental visits.
• Provide emotional support to residents and families.
• Screen crisis referrals and coordinate with staff.
