Job summary

The Link in Crystal, MN is seeking a Youth Specialist to ensure 24-7 safety, supervision, and supportive care at the Emergency Shelter for minors, Dignity House. You will conduct intakes, respond to crises, and coordinate services with case management to promote a safe, nurturing environment.

This full-time overnight role requires strong communication, integrity, and the ability to work with diverse youth. Trauma-informed care experience is a plus; competitive hourly wages are offered with

Qualifications

• Experience providing holistic supportive services to youth.
• Training in youth development, harm reduction, or trauma-informed care.
• Knowledge of minor sex trafficking, gender-based violence, and related services.
• Proven experience providing 1:1 and group supports in shelter or youth settings.

Responsibilities

• Supervise youth and maintain safety at the shelter and facility 24/7.
• Enforce policies consistently and fairly.
• Interact with police and child welfare to support transitions.
• Develop nurturing relationships while maintaining boundaries.
• Conduct intake with new shelter youth.
• Assist with case management and coordinate services as needed.
• Operate phones/security and staffing areas to keep a safe program.
• Provide daily communication with supervisor and team.
• Clean shelter areas during overnight shifts, including laundry.
• Keep progress notes and participant records up to date.
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation when needed.
• Foster a warm, welcoming community for youth at all times.
