Job summary

PenMet Parks is seeking a Recreation Specialist to support youth recreation programs and create engaging experiences for youth in the community. You will work with the Recreation Coordinator to plan and lead activities like Kid’s Night Out, teen programs, and summer camps, and you may serve as onsite lead when the Coordinator is unavailable.

The role requires a passion for youth, creativity, independence, and the ability to mentor staff and volunteers while ensuring programs run safely and

Qualifications

• One year of experience working with youth in a recreation setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in recreation, early childhood education, psychology, or related field.
• CPR, First Aid, blood borne pathogens, and AED certification (or obtained within 90 days of hire).
• Knowledge of inclusive programming and safe operational practices in youth recreation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, implementation, and coordination of recreational activities and events for youth, teens, and adults.
• Provide on-site leadership and instruction to program participants.
• Supervise staff and volunteers to meet program needs and safety standards.
• Promote inclusion, safety, and accessibility in programs.
• Assist with equipment budgeting and purchasing under supervision.
• Promote and market recreation activities in the community.
