Job summary

Alamance County Government is seeking a Librarian Assistant to promote reading and literacy for children aged 0–18 across Alamance County libraries. You will help plan and present engaging youth programs, coordinate a team of staff, and manage youth material purchasing in collaboration with the Collection Development Librarian.

The role emphasizes customer-focused service, partnership building with schools and community groups, and active participation in community engagement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in library science or bachelor’s with 3 years of library experience in children’s programming.
• Minimum 3 years of experience working with children and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Plan, promote, and present programming for children 0–18 at partner locations or branches.
• Coordinate the Children’s team for system-wide learning programming, especially Summer Reading.
• Monthly purchasing of youth materials in coordination with the Collection Development Librarian.
• Build partnerships with schools, childcare providers and youth organizations to promote reading and literacy.
• Staff public service desks as part of regular duties; assist with community engagement.
