Job summary

The Burlington County Library System seeks a Librarian 1, Youth Services, to join our team at the Burlington County Library in Westampton. This full-time role involves creating engaging programs for children aged 0-12, promoting library services, and connecting with the local community to showcase BCLS offerings.

The ideal candidate has a master’s degree in library science and a NJ professional librarian license within six months.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program or from a New Jersey Master’s program deemed acceptable
• New Jersey Professional Librarian license within six months of appointment

Responsibilities

• Design and implement children’s programs to foster reading and learning for ages 0-12 (story times, crafts, STEM activities)
• Facilitate system initiatives such as Summer at the Library Program and related activities
• Participate in outreach events serving children, families, and local early literacy organizations
• Provide outstanding customer service and readers’ advisory; knowledge of print and online resources
• Assist with collection management tasks, including evaluating children’s materials and collection development
• Attend professional conferences, seminars, and committees; read professional literature; participate in staff meetings
• Other duties as assigned
