Job summary

Handley Regional Library seeks enthusiastic individuals who have a passion to promote literacy through creative programming for youth and displays. Nights and weekends required.

The role entails assisting patrons, developing and maintaining collections, and creating programs and services under the Youth Services Manager, with a focus on safe, engaging library experiences for children and families.

Qualifications

• Two years of college required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience with technology and cloud-based software.
• Knowledge of library principles and services.
• Ability to assist patrons and work with children and teens.
• Ability to use computer technology.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to develop creative displays.
• Attention to detail in day-to-day tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct service to library patrons with reference questions and readers advisory.
• Instruct patrons in use of physical and e-library materials and computer resources; refer patrons as needed.
• Promote library collections and services through outreach, displays and programs.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming environment for children and caregivers; enforce patron behavior guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
