Job summary

The Burlington County Library System seeks a Librarian 1, Youth Services, to join our Westampton team. The role focuses on creating engaging programs for children, promoting library services, and building connections with families in the community.

Ideal candidates are enthusiastic, service-oriented, and motivated, with a master’s in library science and NJ licensure forthcoming. The position supports ongoing outreach and professional development within a dynamic library network.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program or NJ Master’s program deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College.
• Must obtain a New Jersey Professional Librarian license within six months of appointment.
• Commitment to enriching lives through learning, growth, and personal development.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement children’s programs for ages 0–12, including story times, crafts, STEM activities.
• Lead system initiatives such as the Summer at the Library Program and related activities.
• Participate in outreach events serving children, families, and local early literacy organizations.
• Provide readers’ advisory and demonstrate knowledge of print and online resources.
• Assist with collection management and attend staff meetings and professional conferences.
