Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader for before/after school and day camp programs. You will help create a safe, fun, and enriching environment where youth are supported, valued, and excited to learn.

You will lead engaging activities, model YMCA values, and build strong relationships with children, families, and school staff while ensuring compliance with safety and licensing standards.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead activities in before/after school and day camp programs.
• Create a safe, engaging environment where youth feel supported and valued.
• Monitor safety, conduct headcounts, and follow YMCA policies.
• Use positive behavior-management techniques to foster inclusion.
• Deliver YMCA curriculum through games, projects, and hands-on learning.
• Build relationships with children, families, school staff, and the YMCA team.
