Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader for before/after school and day camp programs in the Houston area. You will help create a safe, engaging environment where children learn, play, and grow under supervision and guidance.

The role emphasizes relationship-building with youth and families, adherence to safety policies, and participation in scheduled trainings and family nights. A passion for inclusion and positive youth development is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED
• Six months of youth-work experience in a licensed setting
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain)
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Ability to pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting
• TB test and any required immunizations per state/local guidelines

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, and enriching environment in before/after school and day camp programs
• Lead activities aligned with YMCA curricula and adapt to youth needs
• Monitor safety, supervision, and sign-in/out procedures
• Model YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, faith
• Support daily operations and maintain a clean, safe space
• Build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and school staff
• Follow child-protection policies and licensing standards
