Job summary

Covenant House New York is seeking a Rights of Passage Resident Advisor to support up to 20 youths aged 16–21 at a Bronx site. You will supervise, cook meals, and help youths achieve individualized goals within a dynamic team including case managers and specialists.

You will help maintain a safe, clean living environment, participate in training on models and data-driven approaches, and assist with documentation and appointments.

Qualifications

• High school or GED; one year of relevant work experience required.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Experience working with at-risk youth strongly preferred.
• Strong multi-tasking, communication, and problem-solving abilities required.

Responsibilities

• Directly engages, supervises, and supports youth residing at the ROP site.
• Ensures the site and youths’ rooms are clean and safe.
• Welcomes youths and orients them to site expectations and CHNY policies.
• Assists youths with daily preparation: waking, feeding, and commuting to activities.
• Monitors program and client activities to maintain a safe environment.
• Cooks or assists with meals for youth and supports post-meal cleanup.
• Keeps the site clean with facilities staff and maintains records as needed.
• Supports Case Managers with paperwork and appointments; manages files.
• Maintains documentation in the ETO system and timely entries.
• Escorts youths to agencies and services when needed.
• Maintains healthy, supportive youth relationships with boundaries.
• Leads or participates in recreational and off-site activities.
• Completes incident reports and escalates crises per protocol.
