Job summary

Covenant House New York is seeking a Rights of Passage Resident Advisor to support up to 20 youths aged 16–21 in a new ROP site in the Bronx. You will provide holistic support, coordinate meals, and assist with daily site operations, reporting to the Program Coordinator.

This role requires flexibility, strong communication, and a commitment to trauma-informed, youth-centered care. You will work with case managers and specialty staff to help youth stabilize, pursue goals, and transition toward

Qualifications

• High school, GED, or 1 year of relevant work experience required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience working with at-risk youth strongly preferred.
• Driver's license preferred; comfort with driving a 7-passenger van is a plus.
• Strong multitasking, communication, and problem-solving abilities required.
• Commitment to CHNY mission and child protection is essential.

Responsibilities

• Directly engages and supports youth at the ROP site.
• Ensure the site and youth rooms are clean and safe.
• Orient youth to site expectations, CHNY principles, and safety policies.
• Assist youth with daily preparation for work/school and activities.
• Cook meals for up to 20 youth or assist with cooking.
• Maintain site cleanliness and coordinate with facilities staff.
• Maintain records in ETO system and ensure timely documentation.
• Escort youth to appointments and services as needed.
• Participate in trainings and implement evidence-based models.
