Job summary

Covenant House New York is seeking a Direct Service Manager to lead Resident Advisors across Manhattan and the Bronx residential programs. You will supervise, develop staff, and ensure adherence to policies, while championing trauma-informed care for youth.

A five-day workweek includes weekend coverage, with on-call duties and potential crises management. You will collaborate with the Program Coordinator and Senior Director of Shelter to build an energized culture and maximize positive outcomes

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field preferred or related experience.
• Experience working with diverse groups.
• Experience with youth homelessness preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

Responsibilities

• Lead Resident Advisors and supervise day-to-day operations across Manhattan and the Bronx residential sites.
• Develop staff, provide ongoing supervision, and coordinate onboarding for new Resident Advisors.
• Ensure policies and procedures are followed and foster a trauma-informed, youth-centered culture.
• Coordinate with the Program Coordinator and Senior Director of Shelter to align program goals.
• Respond to crises, model de-escalation, and maintain safe, healthy environments for youth.
