Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking part-time BASE instructors to guide elementary students in sports, arts, STEM and hands-on learning after school at locations around Kent, WA. You’ll foster teamwork, social-emotional growth, and fun in a safe, caring Y environment. Positions start 8/24.

Hours vary by school, with shifts from early morning to early evening, plus full-day care on non-school days. Requires 16+ age, 1–2 years’ experience with children, and required health screenings and

Qualifications

• 16 years of age or older, 18 or older is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent, or currently enrolled in an equivalent education program.
• Completion of minimum STARS required training, CPR/First Aid Training
• TB tests and MMR vaccination required for employment.
• Cleared Portable Background Check in MERIT statewide registry.
• Pre-employment requirements and onboarding timelines as stated.

Responsibilities

• Implements culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum.
• Supervises a group of children to ensure health and safety and positive experiences.
• Guides staff/volunteers overseeing activities.
• Communicates day-to-day information with parents/guardians.
• Follows YMCA policies, including medical and disciplinary procedures.
• Maintains site appearance, decor and cleanliness.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings; performs other duties as assigned.
