Job summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking part-time, onsite Lead Instructors for the BASE program to guide elementary students through sports, arts, STEM, and hands-on learning. You’ll support the program supervisor, foster teamwork, and teach social-emotional learning while promoting safety and fun across multiple elementary locations in the Seattle area.

Base roles start 8/17, with additional Play Everyday support 2 days weekly.

Qualifications

18 years of age or older.
2+ years’ experience with children; camps, child care, tutoring, or nannying.
Ability to model YMCA values: caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
Completion of minimum STARS required training.
Certification in CPR/First aid.
TB tests and MMR vaccination pre-employment required.
Food worker card.
Background check required.

Responsibilities

Plan and implement culturally relevant activities within the provided curriculum.
Supervise a group of children to ensure health, safety and positive experiences.
May guide staff/volunteers overseeing activities.
Communicate day-to-day information with parents/guardians.
Follow YMCA policies, including medical, disciplinary, and safety procedures.
Maintain site appearance, décor and cleanliness.
Assist at check-in/check-out for parents.
Provide onsite support for school Play Everyday Program.
Attend staff meetings and required trainings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
