Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Site Director for the afterschool program in Texas to provide leadership for staff and ensure a safe, enriching environment for children. You will champion YMCA core values and oversee daily operations, activities, and licensing compliance.

Responsibilities include program planning, staff supervision, parent communication, and enforcing health, safety, and confidentiality policies.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED with a minimum 70 clock hours of training in child or youth development, recreational leadership or management; two college courses ≡ 100 clock hours.
• At least 1 year of experience working with youth at a licensed facility, church, school or equivalent.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention trainings.
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
• Previous experience with diverse populations.
• Previous experience supervising others preferred.
• Current TB exam and/or local health dept regulations, immunization as required by local/state health authorities.
• Pass a local/state background and FBI fingerprinting check.

Responsibilities

• Site Management: oversee daily operations of the afterschool program and maintain a safe, nurturing environment.
• Supervision and Safety: ensure safety of all children and staff, maintain attendance and compliance records.
• Behavior Management: apply positive behavior strategies in an inclusive setting.
• Program & Policy Compliance: conduct safety drills and maintain required postings.
• Program Planning and Implementation: oversee age-appropriate activities per YMCA curriculum.
• Parent and Community Engagement: communicate with parents about progress and concerns.
• Administrative Duties: maintain enrollment and attendance records.
• Program Growth and Retention: promote enrollment and retention strategies.
• Program Quality: implement lesson/activity plans per Y model and quality standards.
• Program Evaluation: lead Youth Program Quality interventions and adjust programs as needed.
• Child Abuse Prevention: report concerns per policy and ensure secure site access.
