Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to energize before/after-school and day camp programs in Houston. You will create a safe, engaging space where youth learn, grow, and form positive relationships with peers and staff.

You will lead activities, model YMCA values, and collaborate with families and school partners to support children’s social and emotional development. This is a part-time, on-site role with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and immunizations per state/local guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, and enriching environment for youth in before/after-school and day camp programs.
• Lead activities and adapt them to meet diverse needs and interests.
• Monitor safety, conduct headcounts, and respond to situations per YMCA policies.
• Model YMCA values (honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, faith) as a positive role model.
• Build strong relationships with children, families, and staff to foster community.
• Support daily operations and maintain a clean, organized program space.
