Job summary

Sussex Family YMCA is seeking a Youth Development Director to lead and grow our youth programs, ensure safety and high-quality experiences, and strengthen family/community engagement.

You will supervise staff, manage budgets, and coordinate program development across BASE/Day Camp, Teens, and Sports offerings. Flexible schedule with evenings/weekends is required. Competitive benefits and retirement support are included.

Qualifications

• CDA credential or associate degree in early childhood education, elementary education, youth development, recreation, sports management, or related field.
• Four or more years of experience in youth development, childcare, camp, sports, recreation, or related program management.
• Demonstrated experience supervising, developing, and evaluating staff.
• Experience planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating youth programs.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills with diverse children, teens, families, staff and volunteers.
• Ability to lead programs through staff/volunteer leadership, budgeting, and quality improvement.
• Ability to collaborate with schools, community organizations, families, and partners.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and oversight for assigned youth development programs, including BASE or Day Camp and Teen/Youth Sports as assigned.
• Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates comprehensive youth programs and initiatives to meet community needs.
• Plans and coordinates activities, events, leagues, field trips, ensuring staffing, supplies and safety.
• Develops new program offerings to meet family/community needs and YMCA mission.
• Monitors program effectiveness, enrollment, outcomes, and implements quality improvements.
• Maintains accurate records necessary for program management, compliance, and evaluation.
• Adjusts schedules to support operations and provide visible leadership.
