Job summary

YMCA of South Hampton Roads seeks a Youth Development Director to lead before/after school care, summer camps, and teen programs under the Executive Director. The role includes staff supervision, budgeting, program development, facility management, marketing, and volunteer coordination.

You will hire, train, and supervise staff to deliver high-quality member service and engagement, aligning with YMCA operating standards and strategic goals.

Qualifications

• Meet minimum qualifications for “Program Director” as defined by the VA Department of Social Services Division of Licensing.
• Character and reputation suitable for the role; able to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
• Minimum age 21 years or older.
• A minimum of 48 credit hours from college/university with 12 credit hours in child-related courses, plus 1 year of programmatic experience.
• YMCA Team Leader Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and management of licensed child care programs (Before/After School, Summer Camp, School’s Out, teen programs).
• Lead Annual Giving and other association/department initiatives.
• Hiring, training, and supervising staff; ensuring program operations meet licensing and quality standards.
• Develop programs and engage members to form meaningful relationships; support the Association Strategic Plan.
• Collaborate with other YMCA leaders to deliver on assigned responsibilities and goals.
