Job summary

YMCA of South Hampton Roads is seeking a Youth Development Director to provide cause-driven leadership for before/after school care, summer camp, School's Out camps, and teen programs. You will also lead annual giving efforts and oversee staff, program development, and facility management in alignment with association standards.

The role requires supervision of licensed child care, adherence to licensing requirements, and active contribution to the YMCA mission and community engagement.

Qualifications

• YMCA Leadership Competencies include Functional Expertise, Communication & Influence, Developing Self & Others.
• Meets VA licensing requirements for Program Directors as defined by the VA Department of Social Services.
• Minimum age 21 years or older.
• Minimum of 48 college credit hours with 12 credit hours in child-related courses plus 1 year of programmatic experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise licensed child care programs (Before/After School, Summer Camp, School’s Out, and teen programs).
• Ensure operations comply with association procedures, including emergency, insurance, purchasing, personnel, and accounting systems.
• Serve as the Program Director for assigned programs.
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff; maintain staff performance.
