Job summary

Sussex Family YMCA is seeking a Director of Youth Development to lead and grow youth programs with focus on safety, quality, and community engagement.

You will supervise staff, plan activities, manage budgets, and ensure compliance across BASE, Day Camp, and teen/youth sports offerings. The role requires strong communication and collaboration with families and partners, with evening/weekend hours as needed.

Qualifications

• CDA credential or associate degree in early childhood education, elementary education, youth development, recreation, sports management, or a related field.
• Four or more years of experience in youth development, childcare, camp, sports, recreation, or related program management.
• Demonstrated experience supervising, developing, and evaluating staff.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills with diverse community.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and oversight for assigned youth development programs, including BASE or Day Camp and Teen/Youth Sports programming.
• Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates comprehensive youth programs and initiatives.
• Plans and coordinates program activities, events, leagues, field trips, and other experiences with staffing and resources.
• Develops new program offerings to meet evolving community needs and YMCA mission.
• Monitors program effectiveness, enrollment, and outcomes and recommends improvements.
• Maintains program records for compliance and evaluation.
• Adjusts work schedule to support operations and provide leadership.
