Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston seeks a Youth Development Director to lead engaging afterschool and outdoor day camp programs in the Katy area. You will recruit, onboard, train, and support site leaders and counselors, ensuring safe, inclusive experiences aligned with Y standards.

The role includes operational and financial oversight to meet program goals, staff development, and strong community engagement. Flexible scheduling and a commitment to youth growth are required.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years prior experience including 2 years supervisory experience in licensed childcare.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent (preferred).
• Must meet Director qualifications as stated in the Minimum Standards.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention trainings.
• Experience with diverse populations is preferred.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

• Lead a high-performing youth development team, including Site Leads and Counselors.
• Provide operational and financial oversight to ensure programs are well-staffed and within budget.
• Develop, plan, and implement engaging afterschool and day camp programs.
• Coordinate program quality, safety, and compliance with standards.
• Support marketing, outreach, and community engagement initiatives.
