Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston seeks a Program Director to lead afterschool and day camp programs in the Katy area, overseeing staff, operations, and family engagement. The role emphasizes safety, inclusivity, program quality, and fiscal stewardship to deliver high‑quality experiences.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of relevant leadership in licensed childcare, a related bachelor’s degree, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years experience including 2 years supervisory in licensed childcare.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent (preferred).
• Must meet Director qualifications as stated in the Minimum Standards (#744.1015) under TDPRS.
• At least 21 years of age.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention trainings.
• Previous experience with diverse populations.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Current TB test/health requirements per local/state regulations.
• Available for trainings on occasional weekends and after hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of high-quality youth development programs for afterschool and day camp locations.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and risk management across programs.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and foster program innovation.
• Recruit, hire, train, and support program staff to meet licensing standards.
• Manage site budgets, payroll, and overall fiscal goals.
• Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote programs and community impact.
• Engage families and communities through orientations, newsletters, and events.
• Collaborate with school districts and center staff to strengthen YMCA presence.
• Build relationships with schools, parents, and community partners.
• Lead program evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Participate in annual fundraising campaigns and center-level projects.
• Support child abuse prevention protocols and staff training.
