Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice seeks a Correctional Lieutenant to support facility operations under limited supervision. You will oversee security staff, ensure safety of youth and staff, and maintain compliance with agency policy and state law.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and supervisory experience in correctional, security or police work.
• A bachelor's degree in a human services or criminal justice field may substitute for the required supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Engages with youth to ensure the safety, security, rehabilitation and well-being of youth.
• Maintains communication with youth throughout the day.
• Responds physically to emergency situations.
• Supervises and mentors security staff assigned to the unit.
• Monitors unit safety, sanitation, and maintenance regulations.
• Assists in maintaining shift schedules and staff coverage.
• Prepares and submits required incident reports.
• Ensures compliance with policy and state law.
