Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as Counsel, handling a caseload of low to moderate complexity from inception through trial and appeal. You will apply litigation skills, conduct research, draft filings, and independently attend court events to deliver optimal results for Travelers’ insured clients.

Ideal candidates will bring 3+ years in insurance defense litigation, strong communication, persuasive writing, and the ability to manage multiple priorities

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or international legal degree; graduate of an accredited law school.
• 2 years experience as a practicing attorney.
• Active license in good standing to practice law where required.
• Regularly handles hearings, trials, dispositive motions, depositions or other court proceedings; willingness/ability to travel and transport to meetings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply effective litigation skills to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions.
• Conduct legal research and demonstrate strong writing and oral advocacy skills.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, and other appointments independently.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claim partners on file handling strategies.
• Build and maintain strong internal and external client and business partner relationships.
• Provide advice and training to Claim partners and clients.
• Fully utilize available technology and case management systems.
