Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Counsel to manage a caseload of predominantly low to moderate complexity, handling litigation from inception through trial and appeal. You will provide proactive case handling and use your legal expertise to deliver optimal results for Travelers’ insured customers.

You will develop litigation strategies, conduct research, draft pleadings, attend court events, and collaborate with claim partners, clients, and teams.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent international degree; graduate of an accredited law school.
• 2 years experience as a practicing attorney.
• Active license in good standing to practice law in the required state(s).
• Regularly handles hearings, trials, dispositive motions or depositions; able to travel.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply litigation skills to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions.
• Conduct legal research and demonstrate strong legal writing and presentation skills.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other documents.
• Attend court events, depositions and other appointments independently.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claim partners.
• Build and maintain strong internal and external client relationships.
• Provide advice and training to Claim partners and clients.
• Utilize case management systems and automation effectively.
• Travel as required to meet business needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
