Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Counsel with solid insurance defense litigation experience to manage a primarily low to moderate complexity caseload. You will handle cases from inception through trial and appeal while delivering exceptional service to insured clients and coordinating with claim partners.

You will apply advanced litigation skills, conduct thorough research, draft essential documents, attend court events, and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Experience independently handling cases from inception through trial/hearing & appeal.
• Strong communication skills for presenting information to diverse audiences.
• Skilled at fostering collaborative relationships with colleagues, customers, and business partners to deliver exceptional customer service.
• Persuasive legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
• Strong legal research skills and ability to utilize technology.
• Effectively manages multiple priorities with attention to detail and urgency.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply litigation skills to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolution.
• Conduct legal research and demonstrate strong and persuasive legal writing and presentation skills.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, and other appointments independently.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claim partners on file handling strategies.
• Build and maintain strong internal and external client and business partner relationships.
• Provide advice and training to Claim partners and clients.
• Fully utilize available technology and case management systems.
• Travel as required to meet business needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
