Job summary

State of Nebraska Transportation - Agency 27 is hiring winter temporary Highway Maintenance Workers for Norfolk and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities include snow removal, operating heavy equipment for road maintenance, and tree trimming. Positions are temporary through March 31, 2027, with pay starting at $20.39 per hour and CDL holders at $21.95 per hour. Locations include Albion, Bloomfield, Clarkson, Columbus, Crofton, Hartington, and more.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Senior position requires Class A or B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements within 60 days of employment.
• Preferred: Class A or B CDL and experience operating heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform snow removal.
• Operate heavy equipment for road maintenance.
• Perform tree trimming.
• Respond to highway emergencies.
• Safely move, drag, lift, load, and unload equipment, materials, and supplies within weight restrictions.
• Spread and tamp surfacing materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
