Job summary

The State of Nebraska is hiring winter temporary highway maintenance workers for Norfolk and surrounding areas, including Wayne and other listed towns. Positions are temporary through March 31, 2027, with snow removal and road maintenance duties.

Starting pay is $20.390 per hour; CDL holders start at $21.953 and perform snow removal and winter operations. Travel between listed locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Senior/with CDL: Must be at least 20 years old and possess a valid driver’s license; Class A or B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements required within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform snow removal.
• Operate heavy equipment for road maintenance.
• Respond to highway emergencies.
• Move, load, and unload equipment and materials within weight restrictions.
• Spread and tamp surfacing materials.
